When it’s hot as balls and you’re at a giant outdoor ag show with no shade to be had, what’s the first thing you think of when the lunch bell rings?
Grilled Cheese? Yeah, me too. Lucky for me, the Rebel Melt truck was in the house (or, rather, in the field).
Hailing from Saskatoon, Rebel Melt serves up what they call “Hillbilly-style” grilled sandwiches from a bright teal truck. Encouraged by truck signage to “Put the South in my mouth,” I stepped up to the window and ordered a classic melt with the addition of their amazing, truck-made sweet and spicy bacon jam.
Now, anyone who knows me well knows that I am all about a crispy, gooey grilled cheese and this one did not disappoint. Even after walking around for 10 minutes to find a bit of shade, my sammich was still crispy and plenty gooey when I finally got to take a bite. In this case, 35C and full-sun worked in my favour. And, no, I never did find any shade. #worthit
